Sometimes you read a book that really impacts you, takes over all your thinking for a couple of days, and long after you have forgotten it you feel it randomly popping into your life every now and then. That’s the kind of hold that Rhonda Byrne’s book The Secret has on you.

Everyone has something they want to either change or improve in their life. Maybe it’s a better job. Maybe it’s more security. Maybe it’s love. Changing your life may feel impossible. Where would you even start? Byrne says that you have the ability to be whatever you dream of being, and the secret will tell you how to get there. She says that the universe operates based on the law of attraction. Do you have a big, crazy vision? Here’s how to prime yourself for achieving it.

5 secrets from The Secret –

  1. The secret to life is the law of attraction

Byrne was in a very unhappy space in her life. She was sad and overworked, and this made her think that there has got to be a better way to live. She began researching extensively and he found that poets like William Blake, philosophers like Plato, as well as all the major religions, referenced to one powerful law: the law of attraction.

The law of attraction states that what you put out into the universe is what you’ll receive in return. So if you’re full of frustration, anger, and your thoughts are negative, you will only receive more bad things to be angry and frustrated about. Conversely, if you’re sending love, gratitude, and praise out into the universe, positive things will come your way. What you spend your time thinking about and feeling is what you’ll eventually attract. Furthermore, this secret – the law of attraction – is affecting your life right now, whether you know it or not.

2. Ask, Believe, Receive

These are the three keys to success with the secret.

Step one is to ask the universe for what you want. Get clear on what you want and be specific. Step two is to believe. You must believe that what you want is already yours and that you have already received it. See what you want as absolute fact. Expect it. It’s just a matter of time. You must have complete and utter faith and trust without doubting, worrying or second guessing.

Step three, the final step in the process, is to receive. Imagine how you’ll feel once you accomplish your goal. What would life be like? Visualize. This’ll prime your actions in the right direction.

3. Thoughts are things

Your thoughts have energy. In fact your life story comes directly from your thoughts. You frame your internal dialogue and picture of yourself in your mind. You get to write the plot of your life story. It is how you interpret your thoughts that make your story. You have the ability to have the story be wonderfully positive. Become hyper-aware of your thoughts.

4. Thinking positively has the power to lead to weight loss and good health

Think that our emotions have no impact on our health and weight? Think again. According to Byrne, in order to lose weight, it’s essential to stop thinking “fat thoughts” and rather, start thinking “thin thoughts.” There’s failure in so many diets because they tend to keep us focused on the negative:  “I don’t want to be fat.” This then leads to you thinking that food controls your body. Instead, it’s important to recognize that you shouldn’t spend your life worrying, and certainly not about each calorie of food you consume. Instead, you should realize that food doesn’t control your body – you do. In order to be one of those people who can eat what they want and not gain weight, it’s essential to stop worrying, and start thinking like those people. To get your ideal body, the first step is to ask for it.

5. Express Gratitude

Byrne says, “It is impossible to bring more into your life if you are feeling ungrateful about what you have.” In other words, you must appreciate what you have in order to have more of it. If you do not appreciate what you already have, the universe will never grant you more.
