Want to be published alongside your favourite writers? Here’s your chance!

The Juggernaut app is turning one – and we want you to be a part of the celebrations!

Writers, get your short story published on Juggernaut.

Send us a story that will floor us. Or make us cry. Or have us in splits. There are no themes. All you need to do is bowl our editors over.

Our editors Chiki Sarkar, R. Sivapriya, Parth Mehrotra and Trisha Bora will select the best story, and the winner will receive a publishing contract from us, and a fee of INR 25,000.

The story will be published on Juggernaut as the short story of the week on 20 April 2017, our one-year anniversary. The story will feature prominently on the front page of the Juggernaut app and website, as well as on our partner Airtel’s network. Not to mention, there will be a widespread publicity campaign around it.

Send all stories to Last date for entries is 10 April 2017, so hurry!

  1. Each contestant can only send in 1 story, so send in your best.
  2. Stories cannot be longer than 10,000 words.
  3. Contest is open only to Indians.

    Hello there,

I have two queries to which I’d request clarifications –
    a. Does Juggernaut hold ownership and publishing rights to the short story once it is submitted?
    b. Provided the entry does not make it through, can the owner reuse the content as part of a larger publication – say, in a series of short stories, a novella or a novel?

  2. Avinash / March 28, 2017 at 9:02 pm /Reply

I was also curious as Mashvi was on the issue of the rights both for the story that wins and those that don’t make it. Does Juggernaut hold the ownership or is this something that the author and the publisher can get into a contract over?

  3. Team Juggernaut / March 29, 2017 at 8:28 am /Reply

    Hi Madhvi & Avinash,
Juggernaut will hold rights to the story only if it’s selected to be published. Authors will hold all rights to the story otherwise. Thanks,

    • Madhvi / March 29, 2017 at 2:22 pm /Reply

Thank you. Much appreciate the quick response.

  4. K Babylal / March 29, 2017 at 11:06 am /Reply

Is there a specific format it needs to be sent in? Font? Size? Etc.?

    • Team Juggernaut / March 29, 2017 at 11:39 am /Reply

no format requirements, except that it should be legible :)

  5. Kapil / March 29, 2017 at 11:12 am /Reply

Is it okay if the story is published on my blog previously, provided that I have three followers only?

    • Team Juggernaut / March 29, 2017 at 11:43 am /Reply

hi Kapil, yes, we are accepting stories that have only been published on personal blogs, but not if published by a magazine or a publishing house.

      • Kapil / April 1, 2017 at 5:31 pm /Reply

        Thank you very much.

  10. Kapil / April 1, 2017 at 5:27 pm /Reply

You can mind the audacity if you want to, but seeing how fast you are responding to multiple queries here, I would like you to know that I had made a manuscript submission to Parth Sir on October 9, 2016. You claim that you try to reply within three months or less, but I have not received any kind of answer regarding my manuscript and it has been six months.
Am I supposed to resubmit it? Because I haven’t received any mail from you. I want to know what have you decided about my manuscript. Please, let me know.

  11. Sid / April 3, 2017 at 4:53 pm /Reply

    Hi Team,

Thanks for all the clarification. Do you have a minimum word-count in mind for the short story entries?

Also, from what I understand – the publishing contract will be for the actual winning short story, and not for a new one?

    • Team Juggernaut / April 3, 2017 at 5:56 pm /Reply

hi Sid, there’s no minimum word count. there’s a maximum word count of 10,000 words though. And yes, the publishing contract will be for the winning story.

  12. Gaurav / April 8, 2017 at 1:32 am /Reply

    Hey there,
Learnt of this just earlier today.
Any chance that you intend to extend the deadline? While I have started work on my story, I am not sure if I’ll be able to make the submission date.
Extend the deadline. Pretty please with sugar on top!

    • Team Juggernaut / April 9, 2017 at 7:33 am /Reply

hi Gaurav, sorry! as much as we’d like to, we won’t be able to extend the deadline. give it your best shot, we’d say! :) cheers!

Apologies for being such a/an *insert appropriate epithet here*.
When you say end of day, can I safely assume you mean 11:59 p.m.?

    Dear Juggernaut Team,

I have submitted a story on the email address provided above. Trust a submission in word document should suffice. Do let me know if otherwise. Also if there are any other format requirements etc, then please let me know as well.

    Kind Regards,
